RESURRECTION PARISH MINISTRIES - SACRED WORSHIP
LITURGY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Reviews the liturgical life of the Parish. Study Church documents and commentary in order to understand and promote "full and active participation" of the assembly. Meets monthly.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Distributes Holy Communion at weekend liturgies as scheduled on a rotating basis throughout the year. All adult confirmed parishioners are welcome.
EUCHARIST MINISTERS - HOMEBOUND
Minister is matched with homebound parishioner(s). Take Holy Communion and the greetings of the Parish family throughout the year as mutually agreed upon. All adult confirmed parishioners welcome.
MINISTRY OF THE WORD
Proclaims the scripture readings at weekend liturgies as scheduled on a rotating basis throughout the year. All adult confirmed parishioners welcome.
SERVER
Young boys and girls serve the Parish by assisting the priest at Mass and other liturgical functions with respect and dignity for the liturgy.
HOSPITALITY MINISTRY (USHER)
Assists in greeting and welcoming the assembly at Masses, and serves the assembly at Mass (seating, collection, illness, direction). Scheduled on a monthly rotating basis. All adult men, women and family members are welcome. We extend a special invitation to entire families who would like to serve in this ministry together.
CHURCH ENVIRONMENT MINISTRY
Helps create the environment in the Church building for special feasts and seasons. All parishioners with a talent for art, sewing, or constructing displays are an asset. Idea people are welcome. We also need the talents of those with flower arranging skills to help during the seasons and feasts, and with funeral and wedding flowers that remain after the liturgies.
CANTOR
Helps lead the assembly in singing at the weekend Masses and special liturgies. Should be welcoming and able to encourage the assembly to sing. Scheduled on a rotating basis. All parishioners are welcome.
SATURDAY NIGHT SINGERS
Helps lead the singing at the 5:30pm Mass. Practice before evening Mass. High School age or older.
PRAYER CHAIN
People who offer part of their prayer time to pray on behalf of the Parish and individuals. Prayer intentions are made known via phone calls or internet to each person on the chain. All parishioners are welcome.
SPONSORS FOR RCIA ADULTS
Person is matched with person wanting to become a Catholic Christian. Sponsor provides support, interest and prayer. Needs to attend Sunday sessions as often as possible. Training is provided.
FOCCUS
Preparation for engaged couples on their upcoming wedding. Training is provided.
LEADER OF PRAYER
At times may lead the assembly in liturgical rites or in some particular element of the tradition of Catholic devotional prayer. Training is required-graduate of the Diocese of La Crosse Lay Ministry Program.
CATHOLIC EDUCATION
EDUCATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Reviews the education aspect and opportunities of the pastoral mission of the Parish, including evangelization, faith formation of young people and adults, the city-wide catholic school system, missionary activity and ecumenism. The commission will also resource membership for the various ministries and activities, as well as provide evaluation of projects and activities. Adults, meets quarterly.
CATECHIST (K-8)
Prepare and present a monthly lesson to children. Share faith under constant guidance, support and training of Educational Coordinator. Sunday Mornings: 8:30am-12:30pm. Time commitment averages 8 to 10 hrs. per month, which includes preparation. Substitute Catechists should be available to present a prepared lesson to young people when a regular catechist is unavailable. Time commitment varies.
CATECHIST (9-11)
Prepare and present a weekly lesson for six weeks to young people preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Share faith under constant guidance, support and training of Educational Coordinator. Wednesday Evenings: 6-8pm.
ARISE! - PARISH NEWSLETTER
Help prepare the bi-monthly Parish newsletter. Gather information on Parish activities from staff and committee sources, type, and format articles. Those with desktop publishing/graphic arts knowledge are especially welcome.
VACATION BIBLE EXPERIENCE SUP-COMMITTEE
Assist in the planning and execution of a one-week Bible experience to be held at Resurrection Parish during the summer for children ages 5-12. Three or four planning sessions and the mornings of one week in the summer. Adults and teenagers welcome to join.
BULLETIN - WEEKLY
Volunteers are needed to run off and fold the bulletin. Training is provided. Commitment is once a week, usually Thursdays for two hours.
FAMILY LIFE
FAMILY LIFE MINISTRY
Meets twice a year to review the family life aspect and opportunities of the Parish including the central place of the family in all Parish pastoral activities; Parish hospitality and social activities; youth ministry; vocations to the priesthood and the consecrated life; pre-marriage preparation; marriage enrichment, natural family planning; pastoral care of single adults, the divorced, the divorced and remarried, widows and widowers.
FISH (FRIENDSHIP IN SOMEONE'S HOME)
Promote fellowship between parishioners by sharing a meal. Form a new group every 6 months. Meet once a month for potluck meal in a home.
SOUP KITCHEN
Soup and bread are provided monthly to our homebound. During Lent a Soup Kitchen provides a soup lunch to the community each Wednesday. Monthly: Needed are a chef-of-the-day to prepare soup, bread bakers, general kitchen help, delivery persons and dishwashers. Training is provided. Weekly during Lent: chef-of-the-day to prepare large quantities of soup, bread bakers, general kitchen help, dining room help, delivery persons and dishwashers. Training is provided.
RESPITE CARE
Assist in relieving family for 1-2 hours by sitting with family member who is ill, infirmed, etc. Time and frequency to be determined by volunteer.
BIRTHDAY VOLUNTEERS
Bring Holy Communion and/or gift to parishioners over 80.
MEN'S BREAKFAST CLUB
Gather for breakfast, prayer and fellowship. We assist other Parish Ministries for luncheons, breakfasts. Proceeds help families in need, upgrade and maintain kitchen facilities. All men of Parish are urged to attend. Held one Saturday per month.
FUNERAL LUNCHEONS
Provide a lunch or dinner for family, friends of deceased parishioners. Training required only for those in leadership role. Commitment is 4-5 hours/dinner.
HEALTH MINISTRY
Health Cabinet-work with the Parish nurse to meet the holistic health care needs of Parish members. Adults with interest in holistic healthcare. Meet three times per year.
PCCW
Parish Council of Catholic Women - Provide fellowship for women of the Parish, raise money for selected needs of the Parish. All women are members of the PCCW. Meet three times per year.
CARD MAKING/CALLIGRAPHY/STAMPING
Persons to make various cards to be included in our gift and resource kits. Parishioners with calligraphy/stamping skills are needed as well as those willing to design cards on their computers.
BINGO BUDDIES
Assist with Bingo at area nursing homes. Need volunteers willing to work with elderly. Two hours per month commitment.
WELCOME NEWCOMERS
Welcomes all new parishioners as part of our faith community. Volunteers willing to welcome members by phone calls, visits, etc.
COFFEE SUNDAY
Provide parishioners with an opportunity for fellowship with other members after the first two masses on the 3rd Sunday of the month - September through May. Commitment would be one hour per month.
PARISH PICNIC
Help coordinate the annual Parish gathering. Chairpersons needed for helping coordinate the event itself, and areas including set-up food, children's games, liturgy and take down.
SOCIAL JUSTICE
Serves our Parish and the community by fostering respect for all human life and promotes the Church's teaching of Social Justice. Open to adults that have concerns for others, people skills. The committee meets at least twice a year
FOOD PANTRY
Pick up donated food and drop off at local food pantries. Adults with a drivers license are needed for approximately ? hour per week.
HUNGER WALK
A Sunday dedicated to raise funds to help alleviate hunger throughout our community.
SOUPER BOWL
Help recruit and organize volunteers to collect money on Super Bowl weekend for the hungry in our community.
RESPECT FOR LIFE
Provided education opportunities regarding life issues and encourages support for local Pro-life activities. All parishioners welcome.
MOTHER'S DAY ROSE SALE
Persons to sell roses after Masses. One person needed to coordinate the event.
FATHER'S DAY CARNATION SALE
To promote purity and respect for each human by honoring and encouraging fathers in their role as protectors and leaders in their family. Members needed to sell carnations after each Mass.
WHITE RIBBONS AGAINST PORNOGRAPHY
Persons to help coordinate distribution of white ribbons in the fall of the year.
SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGING
Work with the Salvation Army in helping the needy in our Parish and Community. Open to all ages, commitment one hour per year during the Christmas season.
STEWARDSHIP MINISTRY
Develop and promote ideas on stewardship as a way of life. Committee meets the third Thursday of each month.
ADMINISTRATION
VOLUNTEER RECEPTIONIST
Commit one-half day to answer the telephone, greet people and do light office duties in the Parish office. Training provided. Time commitment dependent on need.
OFFICE VOLUNTEER
Assist with stuffing envelopes, collating papers and helping with mailings on an as-needed basis in the Parish office. Adult parishioners welcome.
AT-HOME TELEPHONE VOLUNTEERS
Make calls about various events/reminders throughout the year.
